Hazel D. Berger
September 1, 1910 - November 1, 2001

Hazel D. Berger, 91, of Rice Lake, formerly of Deer Park, died on Nov. 1, 2001 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake.

Hazel was born on Sept. 1, 1910 in Hayes, S.D. to Frank and Ethel (Hiner) Hicok. She married Einor Berger on April 13, 1935 in Cumberland.

Hazel was an avid homemaker, gardener, cookie and lefse baker for many years and also worked some years at Friday Canning Company in New Richmond. Hazel enjoyed her home and many friends at Riverside Arms in Rice Lake in her more recent years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Einor; her daughter Nelda Jean; two sons, Roy and Bob; one granddaughter Bonnie Jean; one great-granddaughter Rebecca; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Merlin (Sharon) Berger of Post Falls, Idaho, Glenn (Beverly) Berger of Chetek; 11 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Eva Berger of Sequinn, Wash., Pearl Hermanson of New Richmond, Mildred Suess of Minneapolis, Minn., and Lois Bartlett of Solon Springs.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Deer Park with Pastor Terri Koca officiating. Organist was Jane Johnson and soloist was Lois Burri. Casketbearers were Hazel's nephews, Bill Hermanson, James Hermanson, Dean Hicok, Allen Scribner, Tom Barlett and Mike Anderson. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.
