VIOLET CHRISTENSEN

Services for Violet Christensen, 67, were Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at 11 am at East Immanuel Lutheran church with Pastors Linda and Loren Schumacher officiating. Soloist was Lois Burri and organist, Jane Johnson.

Casketbearers were Vera Hougdahl, Tom Estes, Carolyn Weisenberger, Janice Thompson, John Peterson and Terry Kolstad.

Interment was at the Hillside Cemetery in Somerset with Williamson Funeral Home, Amery, assisting the family.

Violet May Christensen was born May 15, 1936, in Lake Elmo, Minn., the daughter of Rudolph and Esther (Kuehl) Paulson. She grew up in the Somerset area on the family farm. She attended Oak Park elementary school through fifth grade then attended Riverdale rural school. She graduated from Somerset high school in 1954 and worked in the Stillwater Telephone Office.

On November 27, 1954, she was married to Arthur "Art" Christensen and one daughter was born. They farmed in Somerset until 1970 when they moved to Deer Park where she was an active member of the Senior Center Board for several years. She was also a member of East Immanuel Lutheran church.

They retired from farming in 1995.

Mrs. Christensen was hospitalized at Holy Family Hospital, New Richmond, where she died on Wednesday, November 19, 2003.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Art; daughter, Marthann (Kerry) Peterson; sister, Joyce Klemesrud; and two grandchildren.
