Thomas David Cody

Reverend Fr. Phillip Krembs celebrated Requiem High Mass at ten o'clock Friday, March 26, (1954) in St. Bridget's Catholic church, Stanton, for Thomas David Cody, who died March 22 in St. Paul following a long illness. He was 25 years of age. Paul Murtha was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Murtha at the organ. Interment was in the family lot in the church cemetery, and pallbearers were Francis Gillis, Jack Gillis, John Gowan, Lee Wickenhauser, Frank McNamara and Francis Lumphrey. Vigil was held in the Cullen Funeral Home.

A son of Marie L. and John F. Cody, Thomas David Cody was born November 2, 1928 in New Richmond. He attended school here, and shortly after beginning his senior year in high school, in October, 1946, Tom volunteered for service in the army air corps, and for the next three years he served in the Panama Canal Zone, and at a base in Frankfort, Germany. During this time, Tom qualified for his high school diploma, and was graduated with the class of 1947. He was honorably discharged from the service in October, 1949. He was married February 18, 1950 to Evelyn Juneau, and they went to St. Paul to make their home. Tom was employed there, until his illness, by the Lambetti Construction company.

Surviving him are his widow, Evelyn, and a son, John Thomas, 2 1/2 years old, St. Paul; his mother, Mrs. Marie Cody, New Richmond, and five brothers, Francis and Charles, St. Paul; and Gene, James and Dick, New Richmond. Tom was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Helen, who passed away in 1922, and his father, John F. Cody, who died in 1942.
