DOUGLAS GEORGE FANSLER
March 24, 1921 - July 27, 1984

Douglas George Fansler, 63, of Deer Park, Wis., died Friday, July 27 at St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center.

Services for Douglas G. Fansler were held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Deer Park, on Wednesday, August 1, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harvey Stower officiating. Vocalists Pat and Donna Spaeth, accompanied by Jane Johnson provided the music.

Douglas George Fansler was born in rural Glenwood City to Percy and Clara (Spaeth) Fansler on March 24, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed as a Methodist in Emerald.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Rusk) Fansler; one daughter, Diane Wald of Edina, Minn.; two sons, Duane (Dewey) Fansler of Balsam Lake and Donald Fansler of Deer Park; his Mother, Clara Fansler, and brother, Lorne Fansler, both of Amery; and twin sisters, Mrs. Neil (Lorraine) Pierson of Roseau, Minn., and Mrs. Lloyd (Dalores) Haroldson of Richfield, Minn.; six grandchildren, Bart, Matt, Dewey Jr., Dana and Shannon Fansler and Derrick Wald and many other relatives.

His father, Percy Fansler, preceeded him in death.

He attended grade schools in the Glenwood City and New Richmond areas and graduated from Amery high school in 1939. He attended Vocational school for automotive mechanics and care and operation of heavy equipment. He worked as an operating engineer for many years throughout the Midwest and was honored by being elected to the executive board of the Operating Engineers Local No. 139, State of Wisconsin. In 1979 he was named Operating Engineer of the year for northern Wisconsin.

Casketbearers were Howard Havlish, Irvin Gleason, Arnold Berquam Jr., Ed Gleason, Craig Fansler and Tom Rusk.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with the Williamson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
