JACK A. GILLIS
March 14, 1932 - June 10, 2011

Jack A. Gillis was born on March 14, 1932, in New Richmond, Wis., the son of Joseph and Alice (Kamm) Gillis. He grew up on the family farm in rural New Richmond, a farm he eventually took over and farmed with his sons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when time allowed. On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Rosemary G. Bauman and together they raised six children. Even though he moved off the farm and moved to Amery, Wis., 20 years ago, he still had his roots on the farm and spent time there most days.

Sharing lunch with Grandpa was always fun for the granchildren. Time with family was always important to him. When time allowed he enjoyed woodworking projects.

With the help of hospice and his family he was able to remain at his home in Amery until his death on Friday, June 10, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis and Edward; and sister Norine Casey.

Left to mourn are his wife, Rosemary; children, Ann (Loren) Amundson, Paul (Ellie) Gillis, Dick Gillis, Joe (Judy) Gillis, Jim (Gail) Gillis and Katie (Kevin) O'Neill; sisters, Anita Wells and Sr. Elizabeth Gillis, OSF; brother-in-law Larry Casey; sisters-in-law Rita Gillis and Ellen Gillis; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amery with Very Reverend John Drummy, Father Leonard Fraher and Deacon Bud Heiser officiating. There was a visitation at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, and for the hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at the St. Bridget's Cemetery in rural Deer Park, Wis.

Arrangements were with the Williamson-White Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Amery. You may sign an online guestbook and leave condolences at www.williamsonwhite.com.
