Earl Hillestad

Earl Hillestad, age 80 of New Richmond, died unexpectedly in Mission, Texas on Tuesday, December 27, 2011.

He was born the son of Evar and Alma (Larson) Hillestad on April 11, 1931 in Stanton Township, WI. He attended rural school in Stanton Township and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1949.

He married Agnes Mae Baxter on March 16, 1957 in Deer Park, WI.

Earl served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was on various boards including Equity Coop as Director and Secretary for 9 years, supervisor on the Alden township board for 8 years, and supervisor on the Polk County board for 6 years. Earl was awarded Farmer of the Year from the Amery FFA, he hosted Farm City Days in Amery, and received several Quality Awards from Wisconsin Dairies. He was a member of the New Richmond United Methodist Church, North Star Lodge #187 in Star Prairie, the Eastern Star in Star Prairie, Indianhead Chorus and the New Richmond American Legion Post #80.

Earl is survived by his daughters, Daren (Rich) Erdmann, Denice (Tony) Francis; grandchildren, AJ Erdmann, Kayla Erdmann, Nathaniel Becker, Brittany Becker; siblings, Helen Beestman, Roy (Ruth) Hillestad, Glen (Jackie) Hillestad; and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes; siblings, Kenneth Hillestad, Albert Hillestad, Gilbert Hillestad, and brother-in-law, Lester Beestman.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday, January, 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the New Richmond United Methodist Church. Memorial visitation was held on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 3-6 p.m. with the Masonic Funeral Rite at 5:45 p.m. at Bakken-Young's Beebe Chapel and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at a later date in New Richmond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
