Joyce L. Jones

Services for Joyce L. Jones, 77, St. Croix Falls, were Thursday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist church, Deer Park. The Rev. Terri Koca officiated.

Soloist was Lorraine Rimer with Janet Sikkink providing other music.

Honorary bearers were Vernon R. Jones, Brad Miller, Al Broin, Ted Cabak, Kendall Graese, Michael Miller and Brian Miller.

Interment was in the Clear Lake cemetery with Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home, Clear Lake, assisting the family.

Joyce Lorraine Jones died early Monday morning, Jan. 13, at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 9, 1925, in Barron county, the daughter of James F. and Gladys M. (Caswell) Shafer. She grew up in the Clear Lake - Clayton area and graduated from Clear Lake high school in 1943.

She was married to Vernon "Johnny" Jones at the Clear Lake United Methodist church on March 22, 1944. Together they farmed in Deer Park for the next 56 years and raised three children, Lorraine, Sandy and Vernon Jr.

She also worked as a cook for many years at the Deer Park school and later was employed at the Charmoll Snowmobile Suit Factory in Amery.

She was an active member of United Methodist church, working with the youth group and United Methodist Women.

She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home, St. Croix Falls, for the past year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Jones; parents; brothers, Bill, James and Gordon Shafer; and sister, Dorothy Herdahl.

She is survived by daughters and son, Lorraine (Ralph) Rimer of Hinckley, Minn., Sandy (John E.) Miller of Center City, Minn., and Vernon (Michelle) Jones Jr. of Deer Park; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Millie (Don) Stewart of Star Prairie and Vivian (LeRoy) Graese of Rice Lake.
