Sherman Kobernick

Services for Sherman Kobernick, 60, were Monday, April 29, 2002 at 2 p.m. at East Immanuel Lutheran church, rural Amery, with the Revs. Loren and Linda Schmacher officiating.

Soloist was Diane Lundgren and organist, Jane Johnson.

Casketbearers were Rachel, Adam, Vince, Barry, Wes, Amanda, Kelly and Ryan Kobernick, Tracy Whelan and Robin Rivard.

Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with the Williamson Funeral Home, Amery, assisting the family.

Sherman Carl Kobernick was born on Feb. 17, 1942, near Deer Park, St. Croix county, the son of Louis and Julia Kobernick. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in New Richmond, graduating from high school in 1960.

He spent most of his lifetime in the Deer Park area where he operated a dairy farm for many years.

On April 14, 1962, he was married at Deronda Lutheran church to Carolann VanErp and four children were born.

After retiring from farming, they remained near Deer Park.

He was hospitalized at United Hospital and died on Thursday, April 25, 2002.

His parents, two infant sisters, and a brother, Allen, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Deer Park; sons, Jason (Rhonda) Kobernick of Clear Lake and Aaron Kobernick of Deer Park; daughters, Gwendolyn (Blair) Conklin of River Falls and Candace (John) Hassel of Turtle Lake.

He also leaves brothers, Wesley of Turtle Lake, Kelvin of Arden Hills, Minn., Benjamin of Deer Park and Harold of Superior; sister, Charlotte Kobernick of West St. Paul; and five grandchildren.

Sherman Carl Kobernick was born Feb. 17, 1942 near Deer Park, the son of Louis and Julia Kobernick. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He attended school in New Richmond graduating from high school in 1960. He spent most of his lifetime in the Deer Park area where he operated a dairy farm for many years.

On April 14, 1962 he was united in marriage at Deronda Lutheran Church to Carolann VanErp and to this union four children were born. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially the opportunities it provided for hunting, fishing and trapping. After retiring from farming he and Carol remained near Deer Park, so visits to the farm were a regular event. Sherman was hospitalized at United Hospital and died April 25.

His parents, two infant sisters and a brother Allen preceded him in death. Left to mourn are his wife Carol of Deer Park; sons Jason (Rhonda) Kobernick of Clear Lake and Aaron Kobernick of Deer Park; daughters Gwendolyn (Blair) Conklin of River Falls and Candace (John) Hassel of Turtle Lake; brothers, Wesley of Turtle Lake, Kelvin of Arden Hills, Minn., Benjamin of Deer Park, Harold of Superior; sister Charlotte Kobernick of West St. Paul Minn.; and five grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29 at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery with Revs. Loren and Linda Schumacher officiating. Soloist was Diane Lundgren; organist was Jane Johnson.

Caskerbearers were Rachel Kobernick, Adam Kobernick, Vince Kobernick, Barry Kobernick, Wes Kobernick, Amanda Kobernick, Kelly Kobernick, Ryan Kobernick, Tracy Whelan, and Robin Rivard. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.

Williamson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
