He attended Lakeside school, which was near their family farm and began farming with his father, eventually taking over the farm to become the third generation.

On May 8, 1948, he was married to Jeanette Jacobson at East Immanuel Lutheran Church and two children were born.

He was a baseball pitcher for several teams in the area and his catcher of choice was Ray Johnson. Besides enjoying ball he was an avid Packer fan.

He farmed for many years and his son, Terry, joined him in farming to become the fourth generation.

His health made it necessary to move to Golden Age Manor, Amery, where he died on Sunday, December 7, 2003.

His parents and brother, Hartford, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Deer Park; son, Terry of Deer Park; daughter, Diane (Rex) Kiekhoefer of Maplewood, Minn.; and one granddaughter.
