On Memorial Day, American Legion Post 213 of Deer Park salute the buried veterans at four Deer Park area cemeteries of Cylon, Stanton, East Immanuel Lutheran Church and Calvary Cemetery at Deer Park. Cylon Cemetery, located near the 4-corners, is the first stop at 9:00 A.M., Saint Bridget's of Stanton at 9:30 A.M., East Immanuel of rural Amery at 10:00 A.M. and the final stop is in Deer Park at 10:30 A.M.

Memorial Day ceremonies in 2005 were held on a glorious spring day under blue skies. Refreshments and were available at the Community Center afterwards.

Jim Cody on the right remarked that a church is more than a building, it needs people which St. Bridget's no longer had, hence the closing and removable of the St Bridget's Parish building after 127 years. Jim was one of the oldest members of the Stanton church. Background: Tommie Cody and Merlin Frank.

East Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Amery - 10:00 A.M.

Vernon SetterVernon Setter pauses at East Immanuel Church cemetery. Vernon begins his 93rd year in good health and spirit. He was a WWII veteran serving in Europe and the Pacific fronts.

Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park - 10:30 A.M.

Merlin Frank is at the Robert Torgerson grave while a large crowd looks on during a salute to the buried veterans at Calvary Cemetery. Other veterans honored this year are Herbert Gust, Harold Hanson, and Milton "Hank" Gehrman.

"Is this a beautiful day or what. I couldn't mow lawn out here without getting rained on. So I just can't believe it's been six years in a row with good weather for this day."
