Darryl R. Olson
April 19, 1941 - Aug. 30, 2001

Darryl R. Olson, 60, was born in Deer Park April 19, 1941, the son of Sheldon C. and Helen (Hanson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church.

In 1959 he entered the United States Air Force and was discharged in October 1964. On April 30, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Deer Park he was united in marriage to Carol McKinstry. Darryl spent most of his life in the Deer Park area. For many years he worked for Andersen Windows in Bayport, Minn. prior to his retirement four years ago.

He enjoyed trap shooting and snowmobiling and his trailer north of Hwy. 8. He also loved spending time with his black lab which his friends called "crow dog".

Darryl died at United Hospital in St. Paul Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001. His parents and brother Royal preceded him in death.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife Carol of New Richmond; son James Olson of Deer Park; brothers, Richard (Lois) Olson of St. Paul, Allen (Bev) Olson of Wanderoos, Wis., Larry (Diane) Olson of Balsam Lake, and David (Pam) Olson of Loretto, Minn. He also leaves behind his sisters, Beverly (Douglas) Owen of Bend, Ore., Barbara Polfus of New Richmond, Liz (David) Jahnke of Moundsview, Minn., and Dolly (Jim) Hemauer of Deer Park, along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Darryl Olson were held Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Deer Park with Rev. Terry Koca officiating. Jane Johnson was the organist and Lois Burri was the vocalist.

Casketbearers were Brian Olson, Brandon Olson, Greg Olson, Jacob Olson, Brad Jahnke, and Chris Polfus. Honorary casketbearers were Bill Arndt, Joe Carnine, Jerry Leavens, Ed Burri, John Gehring, and Richard McIntyre.

His cremains will be buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park with the Williamson Funeral Home of Amery assisting the family with arrangements.
