Olive Polfus

Olive Fern "Ollie" Polfus, age 92, of New Richmond, died on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Signet Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Star Prairie, WI, on February 22, 1914, to Brady and Caroline (Christianson) Utgard.

Ollie married Clarence Otto Polfus on May 17, 1933, in Star Prairie. She and Clarence were charter members and deeply involved in the formation of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Ollie was also involved with and a strong supporter of Girl Scouts of America for many years.

Ollie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; seven brothers, Alfred, Dewey, Bert, Charles, Jack, Clifford and Stanley; and two sisters, Margaret Anderson and Bertha Johnson.

She is survived by two sons, Charles (Mary Ann Chelberg) Polfus of New Richmond and Michael (Susan) Polfus of Gilbert, Ariz.; two grandsons, Christopher (Jody) Polfus of New Richmond, Michael (Colleen) Polfus of Minneapolis, Minn.; three granddaughters, Nancy Polfus of Aspen, CO, Kim Polfus of Gilbert, AZ, and Jenny (Aaron) Ellsworth of Gilbert, AZ; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Reese, Christian and Kate; and one sister, Lucille Giese of Star Prairie. Funeral services and visitation were held on Monday, April 3, 2006, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond with Reverend Ray Wiebold officiating. Organist was Karen Volkert and vocalist was Jeri Ann Talmage. Casketbearers were Don Giese, Dave Giese, Stuart Utgaard, Jim Utgard, Chris Polfus and Michael Polfus.

Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Star Prairie Township, following cremation. Memorials may be directed to Girl Scouts, St. Luke's Church or the donor's choice. Arrangements were with Beebe Mortuary.
