LESTER L. RUDD
November 9, 1925 - December 11, 2006

Lester L. Rudd, 81, of New Richmond, died December 11, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis, of congestive heart failure.

The son of Joe and Abbie (Bosley) Rudd, he was born November 9, 1925 in Washington County, Minn.

Lester attended schools in Cylon and New Richmond. He served three years in the Marine Corps during World War II.

On June 4, 1947, he married Lois Mae Knoll in Deer Park, Wis. He worked in various positions at Doboy in New Richmond, Twin City Ammunition Plant in New Brighton, Minn., and lastly as a truck driver for Metal-Matic in Minneapolis until his retirement. At that time he became active in church and VFW activities, and visiting his children around the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gordon, Kenneth, and Joe Jr.; and his grandsons James and John. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois; children, Robert (Jan) of Hudson; Edwin (Kathie) of Salem, NH; Gene (Jean) of Great Mills, MD; Jerry (Im) of Buckeye, AZ; Bonnie (Gary) Muhl of West Fargo, N.D.; and David of New Richmond; brothers, Stanley (Shirley) of Aurora, IL and Vern (Jeri) of Murietta, CA. Also grandchildren, Scott (Molly) Rudd, Matt (Keli) Rudd, Kati Rudd, Becky Rudd, Tony Rudd, Jesse (Ashley) Rudd, Keri (Todd) Schoenfelder, Kelly Muhl and Kevin Muhl; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jackson, Parker and Paige Rudd; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond with Reverend Ray Wiebold officiating. Music was provided by organist Karen Volkert. Casketbearers were Lester's grandsons. Military honors were provided by New Richmond VFW Post 10818 and interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements were with the Beebe Mortuary.
