ARIEL I. SETTER
February 18, 1915 - May 29, 2008

Memorial services for Ariel I. Setter, 93, were Friday, June 13, at 3 p.m. at the Deer Park United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Nolet officiating.

Soloist was Jim Hagerud and organist was Joyce Peterson.

Interment of the cremains was at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park with Williamson-White Funeral Home, Amery, assisting the family with arrangements.

Ariel I. Setter was born February 18, 1915, near Shafer, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Lindall) LaPage.

When she was in seventh grade the family moved to St. Croix Falls where she graduated as valedictorian of her class. She attended UW-River Falls and then Polk County Normal. She taught at Sucker Lake school and Pleasant View school.

She worked as secretary for the Polk County Superintendent of Schools in Balsam Lake.

She contracted tuberculosis and spent 18 months in a sanatorium in Eau Claire.

In 1945 she married Vernon Setter. She completed her recovery at the Setter farm near Deer Park. In 1950, they purchased a farm which they operated for many years.

They had no children but were involved in 4-H and Sunday school. She was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church and served as financial secretary for over 40 years.

She died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Golden Age Manor, Amery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents; brother, Donald LaPage.

Survivors include her sisters, Mildred Johnson, Marion McMillin and Grace Newsum.
