Allen B. Starup

Services for Allen B. Starup, 74, were at Williamson Funeral Home, Amery, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Barry Schaefer officiating.

Soloist was Diane Lundgren and organist, Julaine Berglund.

Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with Williamson Funeral Home of Amery in charge.

Allen B. Starup was born Feb. 19, 1923, one of five children born to John and Mamie Starup. They farmed in Black Brook for many years.

He attended grade school in Black Brook and went to Amery high school.

He farmed with his brother, James until about 1970 when they sold most of their land. He worked with the Green Thumb for several years doing yard work and painting.

In the 1980's, he worked at the Blue Ribbon Feed Mill, New Richmond, retiring in 1988.

He suffered a cerebral bleed and it was not possible for him to live independently. He has been a resident of Golden Age Manor for the past eight years and died there Wednesday, September 11, 2002.

His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sisters, Pandora Gustafson of Aitkin, Minn., and Myrtle McDowell of San Diego, Calif.
