Don Wendt

Donald Herman Wendt, age 82, of New Richmond, died Friday, August 6, 2010, at the St. Croix Health Center.

He was born the son of Ed and Lena Wendt on September 22, 1927, in Beaver Township, Wis. On April 11, 1953, he married June Running in Prairie Farm, Wis. The union was blessed with three daughters, Judith, Cheryl and Barbara. Don was a farmer and a diesel mechanic at Indianhead Truck Line.

He loved his family, hunting and fishing in Wisconsin and other areas. Other interests included gardening and tinkering in his garage.

Don will be missed by his daughters, Judith (Mark) Boucher, Cheryl (Paul) Jones and Barbara (Larry Lomax) Wendt; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Running; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June (2005); sister, Rosella (2009); and brother, Alvin.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday, August 9, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church and also Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. before the service. The interment was in Boardman Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. Croix Health Center.

Before moving to New Richmond, Don lived in the Deer Park area and operated a garage on the corner where the new bank building now stands.

Arrangements were with Bakken-Young's Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
