Grief counselors will be on-hand again today at River Falls High School, as the students mourn the death of a senior in a motorcycle accident. 18-year-old Alex Roen died Tuesday night, after being hurt last Saturday. He was planning to graduate on June fourth - and his father, Sandy Roen, said Alex was recently engaged to a female classmate. Saint Croix County sheriff’s officials said Roen was alone on his older model Yamaha motorcycle on County Trunk "T" near New Richmond when he fell off somehow. The bike stayed up-right, and it crossed State Highway 64 before it ended up in a ditch. Investigators are still trying to figure out why Roen fell off. His father said a deer, bird, or some other animal might have collided with him - because his chest was bruised. Alex Roen’s mother lived in New Richmond, and he was apparently on his way home from her house on his way back to River Falls when the incident occurred at shortly after noon on Saturday. The death is only the second of the year in St. Croix County on the roadways, and sheriff’s investigators continue to look into a possible cause for the crash.
