High Speed Chase Through Deer Park
From the New Richmond News - August 30, 2001

A 23-year-old Deer Park man was in a St. Croix County courtroom Monday to face charges after authorities say he allegedly led sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase, which covered about 40 miles and reached speeds of over 110 mph. The man is charged with one felony count of attempting to flee or elude a traffic officer and two misdemeanor counts, including obstructing an officer and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Prosecutors say he allegedly ran several stop signs and attempted to "ram" a patrol car during the early morning Aug. 19 incident. According to the criminal complaint, sheriff's deputies were attempting to stop his truck for speeding at about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of County Road T and 130th Avenue in the Town of Erin Prairie.

Reports state the truck was traveling at about 80 mph at the time of the attempted traffic stop. Authorities said instead of stopping for sheriff's deputies, he increased his speed to over 100 mph., traveling through Deer Park and the town of Glenwood. According to the criminal complaint, officers from the Hammond and Baldwin police departments finally brought his truck to a stop by flattening his tires with stop sticks on 270th near Woodville.
