Jorgenson Memorial Field Benefit
Wednesday, June 18, 2003

Two Amery (rural Deer Park) residents will have their names remembered due to the work of 22-year-old Eric Wojchik. The young man has raised $110-thousand towards the construction of a memorial softball field in Amery and continues to work on getting the $200-thousand-plus he'll need to complete the project. It's been almost two years since 20-year-old Andrew Jorgenson and his 50-year-old father David were killed in a car accident in Saint Croix County. Wojchik says Andrew was his friend since childhood and David was like a second father to him. The Jorgenson Memorial Softball Field will be located just south of Amery High School on 6 acres of land donated by the City of Amery and the Plastech corporation. A benefit is taking place Saturday to help Wojchik raise money for the field. The event is scheduled to start at 11 A-M and run 'til 11 P-M behind the Tac II between the city hall and Radio Shack. Dinner will be served from 11 A-M to 5 P-M.
