Task force breaks up meth operation

Five people are facing felony drug charges following a series of search warrants, executed over a three-day period at a home in the Town of Stanton late last month.

Members of the St. Croix Valley Task Force searched the home, located in the 1800 block of 235th Avenue in rural Deer Park, on March 19, and then again, three days later.

Its occupants, a 26-year-old and two 23 year olds, are charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, delivery of methamphetamine, each felonies, along with misdemeanor possession charges.

A Twenty-four-year-old who also lists the home as his primary address, is charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place and misdemeanor possession charges.

A 22 year old of Hammond, is facing three felony counts of delivering methamphetamine in connection with the search warrants.

Items were seized in the raid, including methamphetamine, marijuana, a bong and marijuana pipe and about $3,600 in cash. The drug task force sought the search warrant after watching the home and reporting what they believed to be drug transactions taking place.

All five defendants made initial court appearances on the charges last week at the St. Croix County Government Center in Hudson.

Four are each free on a $10,000 signature bond. And one who also faces felony charges in an unrelated methamphetamine case, is free on a $5,000 cash bond.

All five defendants must make weekly visits to the St. Croix County jail for drug testing, pending the outcome of the charges against them.

Preliminary hearings are set to take place in June for the defendants, who have not yet entered pleas in the case.
