William Julius Arndt

William Julius Arndt was born January 8, 1906 in Cylon Township, St. Croix County, Wisconsin, the son of Julius and Hannah (Warner) Arndt. William attended the rural grade school through the eighth grade.

On May 5, 1979 he was united in marriage to Augusta (Eggert) Sempf at Clear Lake, WI. William lived all of his life on the home farm where he was engaged in dairy farming and on into his retirement. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid reader and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

In failing health for several months, he was admitted to Apple River Hospital at Amery, Wisconsin and died there Saturday morning, June 13, 1992 at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother, wives Elsie (Henke) Arndt who passed away October 3, 1973 and Eleanor (Moll) Arndt who passed away December 9, 1975.

Surviving him are his wife Augusta of Deer Park, WI; sons William J. Arndt, Jr. & wife Theresa of Forest, WI and Gary Arndt and wife Sally of Hillsboro, OR; daughter Deloris Kohn and husband Burley of Cottage Grove, MN; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; stepdaughter Lorna (Mrs. Phillip) Rogers of Clear Lake, WI; three step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and many more distant relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake with Rev. Ellery Groth officiating. Casketbearers were: William Johnston, Edwin Hall, Junior Luty, Allen Kohn, Allen Wagner and Phillip Rogers. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Deer Park, WI. Ladies of Grace Lutheran served family land friends a noon lunch during fellowship following the services. Hammer Funeral Home of Clear Lake assisted the family with arrangements and conducted the services.
