Services for Marjorie Bethke, 81, were Monday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Amery, with the Rev. Paul Wiegert officiating.

Organist was Linda Wiegert.

Casketbearers were David Bethke, Thomas Bethke, Michael Bethke, Duane Bethke, Karl Holle, Kristofer Holle, Keith Bethke, Paul Tarnowski, Gene Cody, Timothy Cody, Ryan Gehrman and Cooper Gehrman.

Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with the Williamson Funeral Home of Amery in charge.

Marjorie L. Bethke, 81, was born on July 25, 1920 in Stanton Township near Star Prairie, the daughter of Glen Rundhammer and Lillian Ahrensdorf Rundhammer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

She attended school in New Richmond graduating in 1938 as salutatorian of her class. On Oct. 18, 1939 she was united in marriage to Carl Bethke and to this union nine children were born. She loved life on the family farm in Stanton Township. Cooking, canning, baking and caring for her family were all things she enjoyed very much.

In 1975 they retired from the farm and moved to the shores of North Twin Lake in Amery. In 1997 poor health created the need for her final home at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond. She enjoyed activities there, especially bingo. She died at the St. Croix Health Center on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001. She was a mom for all seasons, a wife for all time. "In life we loved her dearly, in death we love her still."

She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Lillian; infant son Keith; three sisters, Bernice (Clarence) Gove, Louise (Lyle) Kellaher and Carol (Carl) Woodward.

Left to mourn are her loving husband of 62 years Carl Bethke; three sons, Bob, David (Shirley), Chuck; five daughters, Judy (Art) Holle, Sharon (Don) Tarnowski, Linda (Steve) Schmidt, Cindy (Jerry) Cody, and Bonnie (Paul) Gehrman; five sisters, Beverly (Art) Kjeseth, Shirley (Jim) Pehan, Nancy (Jim) Engle, Kay Erickson, and Glenda (Bob) Schwartz. She also leaves 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery with Rev. Paul Wiegert officiating. Organist was Linda Wiegert. Casketbearers were David Bethke, Thomas Bethke, Michael Bethke, Duane Bethke, Karl Holle, Kristofer Holle, Keith Bethke, Paul Tarnowski, Gene Cody, Timothy Cody, Ryan Gehrman and Cooper Gehrman.

Interment was at the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park with the Williamson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
