Larry F. Eggert "Tub", age 68 of Amery, WI, died at his home, surrounded by his family, early Tuesday, September 13, 2011 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
Larry Francis Eggert was born on July 16, 1943 in Forest Township, the son of Lorne and Violet (Gluege) Eggert. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, attended High Landing school and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1961.
Larry enlisted in the US army in 1961, served, and was honorably discharged in 1965. During this time, Larry was married to Sandy Stauner on December 8, 1963, and together they raised two daughters, Laurie and Shelley.
He moved to Amery, WI in 1966 and over the years worked butchering with his father and brother Bob, construction with Barney Barns, and driving truck for Yellow River-Cemstone.
In his spare time Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing cards, especially cribbage. He loved traveling, feeding the birds, squirrels and deer around his home. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, WI. Larry especially loved spending time with his family and many friends. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lorne and Violet; and brother-in-law, Bob Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Eggert of Amery; daughters, Laurie (Larry Reinke) Peterson of Turtle Lake and Shelley (John) Wassberg of New Richmond; grandchildren, Chris (Jamie Harr) Peterson of Amery, Travis Peterson of Turtle Lake, Heather Peterson of Turtle Lake, Asia Wassberg of New Richmond and Kalley Wassberg of New Richmond; great grandchild, Kristy Nelson of Amery; brothers and sisters, Darleen Wood of Clear Lake, Sylvia (Robert) Scheerer of South St. Paul, MN, Robert Eggert of Deer Park, Dennis (Kathy) Eggert of Deer Park and Karen (Chuck Jameson) Booth of Clear Lake; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service was Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, with Pastor Ellery Groth officiating. Organist was Jeanne Steffen.
Honorary casketbearers were Chris Peterson, Travis Peterson, Heather Peterson, Asia Wassberg, Kalley Wassberg. Casketbearers were Bob Eggert, Dennis Eggert, Kent Eggert, Richard Rudd, Bob Stauner and Galen Stauner.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with military honors provided by the Clear Lake Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home in Clear Lake, WI is handling the arrangements.
