Walter Fouks

Walter Fouks, New Richmond businessman, died late Friday afternoon in St. Luke's Hospital, St. Paul, where he had been undergoing treatment. The funeral took place Monday from the M. E. church, Rev. T. N. Watters officiating assisted by Rev. Theo. Mathews, Pepin. Interment was had in the New Richmond Cemetery, the pallbearers being Frank Jones, Jr., Lee Ward, Coit and Glen Jones, brothers-in-law, and Henry Matthews, a cousin.

Decedent was 39 years , 6 months and 27 days old, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George A. Fouks; he was born in Cylon and spent most of his life there, coming to New Richmond to go into the draying business. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Elsie Jones, and 2 children, Wayne Walter and Beverly Jane.

In addition to those named above, decedent is also survived by 1 brother, Henry Ernest Fouks, Cylon; 4 sisters, Mrs. Henry Sanders, Kellogg, Idaho; Stella and Nellie Fouks, St. Paul, and Alma Fouks(Paul Haglund), Two Harbors, Minn.

Among those from out of town attending the funeral were: Stella and Nellie Fouks, George and Arlene Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Jones, Henry Matthews, John Pheifer, St. Paul; Alma Fouks, Two Harbors, Minn.; Rev. and Mrs. Lester Thatcher, Mrs. Oscar Clark, Mrs. Robert Thomas, Clear Lake; Robert Hinman, Glenwood City.

Walter George Fouks was born in Cylon, June 27, 1890. He attended the graded school at Cylon and a business college in St. Paul. June 19, 1912, he married Elsie Luella Jones. He was a member of the Cylon M. E. Church. He was a farmer in Cylon until 1920, when he went to California. He returned and was again engaged in farming. June 1, 1929, he purchased the New Richmond dray line and took up his residence in this city.
