Henry D. "Bud" Gluege, age 80, of Amery, WI, formerly of Clear Lake and Deer Park, died on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery, WI.
Henry Dale Gluege was born on March 18, 1928, in Forest Township, the son of Henry A. and Lena (Winzer) Gluege. He grew up in Cylon Township and attended Edgewood school.
Henry worked on his family's farm in Deer Park before entering the U.S. Army in 1952. He served with the military on active duty during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954.
Henry returned to Wisconsin and worked for various farmers around Deer Park, Clear Lake and Cylon for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid reader of westerns and mystery novels.
Due to his failing health, Henry moved to the Willow Ridge Care Center of Amery in 2004, and later to the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in 2006.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Gluege; brothers, Charles Gluege and Francis Gluege; sisters, Bernice Gluege, Florence Jones and Violet Eggert.
Survived by nieces and nephews, Darleen Wood of Clear Lake, WI, Sylvia (Bob) Scheerer of S. St. Paul, MN, Bob Eggert of Deer Park, WI, Larry (Sandra) Eggert of Amery, WI, Dennis (Kathy) Eggert of Deer Park, WI, Karen (Charles Jameson) Booth of Clear Lake, WI, Daryl (Katie) Jones of Hudson, WI, Rosemarie Smith of Virginia Beach, VA, and Nancy (Michael) Olenski of Chicago, IL; many relatives, family and friends.
Funeral services were at Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home, Clear Lake, on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. Clergy was Pastor Ryan Barnes.
Casketbearers were Bob Eggert, Larry Eggert, Dennis Eggert and Daryl Jones. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, Wisconsin with military honors provided.
Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home, Clear Lake, assisted the family with arrangements.
