Herb Gust

Herbert H. Gust, 89, formerly of Deer Park, died on Wednesday, June 23 at the Signet Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Richmond.

Herb was born in Deer Park on Nov. 11, 1914 to Emil and Amelia (Jabusch) Gust. He married Evelyn Evenson on March 21, 1942 in Deer Park. Herb served his country during World War II as a sergeant in the Army Air Force. He and Evelyn raised two children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rhiny, Walter "Casey", and Clarence; four sisters, Florence Luhman, Clara Thompson, Louise Swanson, and Helen Barnum.

Herb is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn of New Richmond; one son, Herb Gust, Jr. of New Richmond; one daughter, Ann (Gary) Ferguson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; one brother, Orville (Lucille) Gust of Deer Park; and one sister, Margaret (Howard) Krueger of New Richmond.

Visitation was held Sunday at the Beebe Mortuary. Funeral services were Monday, June 28 at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond with Rev. Norris Erdal officiating. Organist was Kathy Wettig and vocalists were David Swanson and Vern Skoglund.

Active pallbearers were John Woodworth, Mike Woodworth, Randy Bottolfson, Jeff Bottolfson, Roger Gust, and Tom Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Marv Woodworth, Gary Bottolfson, Jim Thompson, Bill Gust, Bob Gust, Lavern Gust, Jack Scobey, Arvid Fouks, Jim DeSmith, Jack Gust, Steve Luhman, and Jerry Gust.

Military honors were provided by New Richmond American Legion Post 80. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.

Beebe Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
