Roy Henry Jacobsen, Deer Park, died on February 9, 1998, at the age of 78.
Roy was born to Henry Christian Jacobsen and Tillie Caroline Gregerson on January 23, 1920. He was united in marriage with Erna R. Hughes on November 30, 1946. Roy served in the US Army and was stationed in the WWII European Theater, serving in France and Germany, and in the Aleutian Islands and Alaska. After the war, he farmed and was the Deer Park rural mail carrier.
Roy was a member of the American Legion Post #213, Deer Park Lions Club and Masonic North Star Lodge #187 of Star Prairie.
Roy enjoyed the outdoors, logging his own trees and woodworking with his own lumber. He loved hunting, gardening and feeding the birds. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His many friends and relatives will miss him greatly.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Violet Bostrom.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Dennis (Kristine) of Marshfield; three daughters, Linda (Stuart) Strong of Sheboygan, Susan (Richard) Pribnow of Chippewa Falls, and Bernice (Gary) Thompson of Eau Claire; one brother, Merrill (Selma) Jacobsen of Rice Lake; two sisters, Bernice Jacobsen and Merriam Woodhouse, both of Washington, D.C.; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation was on February 12 at Beebe Mortuary. Funeral services were held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Deer Park on February 13. Rev. Jay Gitchel officiated. Casketbearers were Ray's grandsons Todd and Scott Jacobsen, Benjamin and Daniel Strong, Derek Pribnow and Matthew Thompson. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.
Military honors were provided by Erick Vick Post #213 of Deer Park. The organist was Kristine Jacobsen, with Dolly Beebe and Becky Peterson serving as vocalists. There was a special Masonic service by North Star Lodge #187 of Star Prairie on February 12th. Arrangements were made by Beebe Mortuary in New Richmond.
