LaVon Earl Krumm, age 75 of New Richmond, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Westfield's Hospital.
He was born the son of Julius and Alma (Norlander) Krumm on September 25, 1933 in Stanton, Wis. LaVon graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1952.
After graduation he started farming with his dad. During his senior year of high school, LaVon won the first annual gold watch given to the outstanding future farmer by the Kiwanis Club.
On March 27, 1954, he married Barbara Setter in Deer Park, Wis. They continued to farm his family's farm.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, playing cards and antique tractor pulls. For many years, LaVon met his friends every morning at the Lowrey Hotel for coffee. In recent years, his family gathered every Saturday morning for coffee at the Bean Bag. LaVon always supported his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Alma Krumm; brother, Kenneth Krumm; sister-in-law, Janice Krumm and brother-in-law, Charles Berg.
LaVon is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Susan, (Don) Springer, Pam (Tom) McNamara, Diane (Greg) Demulling, Kathy (Craig) Kittel and Steve (Amy) Krumm all of New Richmond; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Berg of Roseville, Minn. and many more relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 121, 2009 at 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 from 3-6 p.m. at First Lutheran Church and also one hour before the funeral service on Monday. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park with Dan Demulling, Josh Demulling, Max Kittel, Andy Kittel, Amy Springer and Cory Krumm as the pallbearers.
Arrangements were with Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
