David Carl Lease, age 65, of Baldwin, died of a heart attack on a hunting trip in northwestern Minnesota on Saturday, November 7, 2009. He was born the son of Henry and Blenda (Lundeen) Lease on January 19, 1944 in Bismarck, ND. He graduated from high school in Goodridge, MN and went on to serve his country in the US Army. On October 18, 1986 he was united in marriage to Vernice E. Wildasin. Dave was a truck driver for UPS out of Eagan, MN for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He spent his retirement pursuing activities he loved: hunting deer and elk, fishing, hatching and raising chickens, chopping wood with is canine companion, Buddy, and having coffee (several times a day) at Ray's Truck Stop. Dave was a friendly gregarious person who could make conversation with anybody but he enjoyed his alone time too, especially on road trips. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, often wishing he had more time with them; he loved them very much.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger, Larry and Richard. He will remain in the hearts of his wife of 23 years, Vernice; six children, Wade Lease, Deanna (Brian) Cran, Josh Bacon, Penelope "Penny" Lease, Deborah Lease and Sarah Lease; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Brianna, Alicia, Dune and Otelia; eight siblings, Diane Lease, Karen Lease, Kenny Lease (Pauline), Darrel "John" (Bev) Lease, Bob (Estelle) Lease, Margaret Lease, Joyce (Bud) Holt and Mary Johnson; extended family and many friends.
A funeral service for David Lease will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 12th at New Centerville United Methodist Church (2 blocks east of the intersection of County Road M & County Road Y) with Pastor Steve Hanusa officiating. Visitation will be from 3 until 5 PM at the church on Thursday. A private burial with military honors will take place on Friday at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
