Ruth Lorentzen, 88, formerly of Deer Park, died May 26, 2001, at Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was born Ruth Thompson, July 29, 1912, in Deer Park, daughter of John and Ida Thompson. She and her husband Carl lived most of their married life in Ferndale and Royal Oak, Mich., moving to Lake Isabella, Mich. after retirement. Carl died in 1990. Ruth later moved to Port Charlotte. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Richard and Hugh Thompson.
She is survived by her son, Eric Lorentzen of Rochester Hills, Mich.; daughter, Kay Mueller, and son-in-law Tom Gruenfelder of Rumson, N.J.; grandson, Carl Mueller of Arlington, Va.; sister-in-law, June Thompson of Racine; and by many, many loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11, 2001, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Deer Park. Following the service her ashes will be buried at Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park.

DAUGHTER: JANE ELIZABETH LORENTZEN
The beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lorentzen, passed away Oct. 12, at the Amery Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was born March 22, 1942, and in her short life had so endeared herself to all who knew her that her passing was a real sorrow.
The funeral was held at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Thompson, Deer Park, Oct. 14, Rev. R. J. Dahl officiating.
"My Jesus As Thou Wilt" was sung by Mrs. Alec Johnson. Mr. John T. Thompson and Mr. Knud Lorentzen, the two grandfathers, acted as casketbearers, interment being made at the Calvary cemetery, Deer Park.
Besides her parents she is survived by her 2 year old sister, Kay Sharol. Those attending from out of town were:
