Lt. Clifford Markuson -- a member of Clear Lake High School class of 1938. Cliff was a very close personal friend of mine. (Marshall Winegar) He served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot on a B-25 bomber. Cliff married Marion Tulgren before going overseas. At that time, after 50 missions over enemy territory, one could have a 30 day leave. On Cliff's 50th mission his plane was hit on the return to England. The plane made a safe landing, but it was too late for Cliff. He is buried at the Deer Park Cemetery. Died in combat, 1945.
