Lester C. Rogers, age 68, of New Richmond, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his home, after living with ALS for the past 2 years.
He was born the son of Phillip E. and Clara C. (Perry) Rogers on December 19, 1943, in Connorsville, Wis. Lester graduated from New Richmond High School in 1962. On June 5, 1965, he married Barbara Harer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Lester worked at Andersen Windows for 30 years, becoming a Quarter Century Club member. In retirement, he was a groundskeeper for White Eagle Golf Course for 10 years.
Lester was an active member of the Star Prairie Lions Club, a past 4-H leader, and on the St. Croix Rodeo Committee. He volunteered every year at the St. Croix County Fair and was a long time member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
He will be missed by his wife, Barbara; children, Cheryl (Gary) Kemling, Victoria Rogers, Charles (Melinda Richards) Rogers, Joel (Katie) Rogers; grandchildren, Paige Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Jason Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Erica Kemling, Marshall Kemling, Aaron Kemling; great-grandson, Richie; siblings, Phillip (Lorna) Rogers, Neil (Marcia) Rogers, Marguerite (Ralph) Olson, Bernard "Mack" Rogers; sister-in-law Judy Rogers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; sister Charlotte (Otis) Helgeson; brothers Raymond and Everette Rogers.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in New Richmond. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's and also Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Private interment at a later date.
Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
