MARCEL SIMON
March 17, 1931 - March 26, 2008

Marcel Myron Simon, Sr., 77, died March 26, 2008 at Arthur-Rose Assisted Living in New Richmond, Wis.

He was born March 17, 1931 in Somerset, Wis., the son of Maurice and Alice (Rivard) Simon. He attended New Richmond High School. On April 21, 1951 he married Nancy Ellen Maloney at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Erin Prairie. He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1951-53. He was a long time employee of Andersen Windows and farmed for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; his parents; two infant brothers, Joseph and Merrill; mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Mary Maloney; sisters-in-law Jean Weiss, Martha Green, Mary Simon; and brother-in-law, John Stephens.

He is survived by his son, Marcel (Mike) Simon, Jr.; daughters, Debbie (Joel) LaVenture and Pam (Bruce) Emerson; grandchildren, Stacy Sindelar, Micaela Ellevold, Ashley LaVenture, Scott Emerson, Dan Dodge, Jeremy LaVenture; great-grandson, Aidan Sindelar; sisters, Anita Stephens, Patsy (Sid) Brokken; brothers, Maurice Simon, Jr., Haulis (Ilene) Simon, Bill (Barbara) Simon and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, March 29, 2008 with Father James Brinkman officiating. Music was provided by Barb Peterson, organist and Anne Anez, soloist. Military honors were performed by the New Richmond American Legion.

Pallbearers were Marcel's grandchildren and sons-in-law, Stacy Sindelar, Dan Dodge, Micaela Ellevold, Scott Emerson, Bruce Emerson and Joel LaVenture. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
