June H. Thompson, age 91, died on Saturday, January 6, 2007, in her apartment at Attic Angel Place.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana, on July 25, 1915, the daughter of Lynn Lewis and Eunice Mills Hosier. Her family soon moved to Detroit, Michigan, but she and her sister, Jeanne, spent the summers of their childhood at her grandparents' farm near Centerville, Indiana.
She received her BA from the University of Wisconsin in 1938 and married Richard C. Thompson on July 25 of the same year. They immediately set sail for Europe, where they spent the first eighteen months of their fifty-nine years together.
After their return to the United States, they lived in Los Angeles, moving to Milwaukee in 1944. They lived in Wauwautosa from 1946 until 1990, when they moved to a retirement community in Racine, where Richard died in 1997.
From 1971 until Richard's death, they spent their summers at a cottage near Richard's childhood home of Deer Park, WI.
In 2003, June moved to Attic Angel Place in Middleton.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Joanne Fitzgerald of Itasca, Illinois, and by her four children, Marie Ludwig of Boston, MA, Richard of West Salem, WI, Christine Gospodarek of Raleigh, NC, and John of Madison.
In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Most of her many friends had preceded her in death.
She had been active in church groups, P.E.O., and the Mortar Board Society, but her primary interest was her family. She gave us loving support and encouraged us to make the most of our lives. There will be a family reunion on Memorial Day weekend, which will include a memorial service at Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Deer Park, WI 54007 or to Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Rd., Middleton, WI 53562.
