Harry Sylvester Torgerson, 87, Linden Nursing Home, Stillwater, formerly of Deer Park, died Thursday, December 20, 1977 in Stillwater.

Mr. Torgerson was born in Deer Park on March 15, 1890 to Christ and Jetta Thompson Torgerson in a log cabin. He had farmed for seven years before entering the restaurant business and later worked for Standard Oil Company. He and his family then moved to Hudson where he was a janitor for 15 years. Eventually they moved to Stillwater where Mr. Torgerson most recently had been confined to Linden Nursing Home.

Mr. Torgerson married Amanda M. Krueger, December 2, 1916 in New Richmond and she preceded him in death on October 2, 1976 in Bayport.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert Torgerson of Stillwater and Douglas Torgerson of La Grange, Illinois; one daughter, Genevieve (Mrs. Melvin) Heibel of Clear Lake and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Tobin, St. Paul and Mrs. Jesse Jones of New Richmond.

Visitation was held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the services. Funeral services were from the Trinity United Methodist Church in Deer Park on Friday, December 23 with Rev. James C. Rowlette officiating. The organist was Miss Bernice Jacobsen and music was provided by Mrs. Roy Jacobsen and Miss Robin Torgerson.

Casketbearers were Byron Torgerson, Richard Heibel, Donald Krueger, Eric Torgerson, Barry Torgerson, Bert Peterson, Curtis Jones and Raymond Krueger. Spring interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, Wisconsin.

Arrangements were by the Beege Mortuary of New Richmond.
