KATHERINE H. WIENKE
April 1, 1911 - March 21, 2008

Katherine H. Wienke, 96, Amery, formerly of Forest, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Willow Ridge, Amery.

Funeral services were Wednesday, March 26, at 11 a.m. from Living Word Chapel, Forest, with Pastor Randy Dean officiating. Music was provided by Living Word Worship Team.

Honorary pallbearers were Lisa Yamriska, Kathy Holloway, Nicole Leonard, David Frick, Heather Draxler, Julie Woods, Michelle Beck, Shannon Klugow and Billie Jo Johnson.

Casketbearers were Ben Wienke, Eric Wienke, Tim Wienke, Brayden Wienke, Jason Klugow and Jamon Wienke.

Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Forest Township and Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Katherine H. Wienke was born in Lake Park, Minn., on April 1, 1911, the daughter of David and Leah (Huser) Gerber. In 1920, she moved with her family to Forest where she grew up and attended Camp 14 school.

She married Erhart Wienke on October 17, 1930, and they farmed in Forest for many years. They also raised four children.

After her husband's death in 1982, she joined the "Teen Missions" and received her training at Merrit Island, Fla. She went to Heidebeck, Holland, in 1984 where she helped missionaries construct a new community building. In 1985, she joined "Youth with a Mission" and trained at the Pacific Christian University in Kailua Konak Hawaii. After completing training, she traveled to China, Japan and the Philippines sharing the Good News of the Gospel.

She was also a member of the Green Thumb program at the St. Croix Falls Correctional Center. She was a member of the Living Word Chapel in Forest. She had been a resident of Willow Ridge Care Center for the past few years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erhart; infant son, David; grandson, Nathan Wienke; parents; sisters, Selma Voeltz, Mary Bliese, Pearl Wienke, Florence McNamara, Leona Logghe and Ruth Logghe.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris (Carl) Frick of Denver, Colo.; sons, Allen (Karen) Wienke of Emerald, Harlan (Pat) Wienke of Deer Park and Gene (Janet) Wienke of New Richmond; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
