Helen L. Zwolenski, 97, of Clear Lake and Deer Park, died Monday, August 22, 2005 at the Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery.
Helen Leone Zwolenski was born on December 13, 1907, in New Haven Township, Dunn County, the daughter of William C. and Myrtle L. (Conners) Pittman. She attended Hilson School.
On June 2, 1925, Helen married Peter Rugo in St. Paul. Together they lived in St. Paul for several years before moving closer to Helen's family in the Graytown area near Reeve, Wis. After a short time in Ankeny, Iowa, Helen and Peter settled to farm in Deer Park and together they raised five children: William, John, Robert, Thomas and Mary Kay. In addition to raising her family and operating the farm, Helen worked for over 31 years at the Fairway Grocery Store in Deer Park. She was also an active member of the Willow River Parish at the Methodist Church in Deer Park. After Peter died in 1983, Helen continued to work and be an active member of the community. She was married to Charles Zwolenski at the Deer Park Methodist Church on April 17, 1987. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, bowling, quilting and cooking and baking for family and friends. She and Charles also had the opportunity to travel around the country to visit family. In 1997, Helen moved to South Manor in Clear Lake. She later became a resident of the Golden Age Manor in Amery in 2003.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Rugo, and husband, Charles Zwolenski; her parents, William and Myrtle Pittman; brothers, Howard and Vernon Pittman; and sisters, Winifred Hanson, Florence Courture and Evelyn Hanson.
She is survived by her sons, William (Genevieve) Rugo of River Falls, John (Helen) Rugo of Amery, Robert (Helen) Rugo of Spokane, Wa., Thomas (Arlene) Rugo of Minong, Wis.; daughter, Mary Kay (Roger) Williams of Osceola; sisters, Jessie Nilssen of Stone Lake and Rachel Hanson of St. Paul; brother, Raymond (Elaine) Pittman of Hayward, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Music was provided by Juanita Wood and Marsha Scheuermann. Casker bearers were Dale Hanson, David Picard, Robert Rugo, Seth Rugo, Thomas Rugo and Brian Williams.
Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Deer Park.
The Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home in Clear Lake assisted with arrangements.

Services were Monday, Aug. 29, at 1:30 p. at United Methodist church, Clear Lake. The Rev. Terri Koca officiated.
Music was provided by Juanita Wood and Marsha Scheuermann.
Casketbearers were Seth, Thomas and Robert Rugo, Dale Hanson, David Picard and Brian Williams.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, with Scheuermann-Hammer Funeral Home assisting the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Rugo; husband, Charles Zwolenski; parents, William and Myrtle Pittman; brothers, Howard and Vernon Pittman; sisters, Winifred Hanson, Florence Courture and Evelyn Hanson.
She is survived by sons and daughters, William (Genevieve) Rugo of River Falls, John (Helen) Rugo of Amery, Robert (Sharlene) Rugo of Spokane, Wash., Thomas (Arlene) Rugo of Minong and Mary Kay (Roger) Williams of Osceola; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Jessie Nilssen of Stone Lake, Rachel Hanson of St. Paul and Raymond (Elaine) Pittman of Hayward.
