A Stormy Weekend

The Memorial Day weekend of 2008 ushered in a much appreciated break from the frigid spring weather of 2008. But late in the afternoon of Sunday, May 25th, after a very warm and humid day, severe thunderstorms began to form. About 4:30 p.m. in Coon Rapids, directly west of Deer Park about 45 miles, a tornado funnel touched down but damage was limited. At Hugo another tornado claimed a life and as the storm crossed into Wisconsin hail and high winds pelted the area. Calvary Cemetery suffered tree damage and as pictured here, on the west side of Deer Park, structures were damaged and trees were downed.
